We offer this resource to help you and your worship team become more intentional in the many ways that worship forms and shapes disciples in your church. Becoming more intentional about how sermons, music, and liturgy, work together to form disciples, is the goal of this resource. Here we will also explore the importance of forming a discipleship-focused worship team, creating intentional worship planning that thinks about what your disciples need next, and we will offer practical resources and ideas to help you and your team become more intentional about discipleship through worship.

Rev. Dr. Cynthia Wilson serves as Executive Director, Worship Ministries, and Director, Liturgical Ministries with the Worship Team of Discipleship Ministries. She holds responsibility for supervising and guiding worship ministries staff in the process of developing worship resources and providing training for local churches, annual and jurisdictional conferences with a primary focus on music, liturgy, and preaching. She is an ordained deacon of the Great Plains Annual Conference. Cynthia holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Dillard University; a Master of Sacred Music from SMU-Perkins School of Theology; and a Ph.D. in Liturgical Studies from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary.

Dr. Diana Sanchez-Bushong serves as Director, Music Ministries with the Worship Team of Discipleship Ministries, tasked with resourcing musicians across the denomination. She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin where she earned a Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education. She also attended Perkins School of Theology, where she earned a Master of Sacred Music and a Master of Music in Choral Conducting through Meadows School of the Arts at SMU.

Rev. Dr. Derek Weber serves as Director, Preaching Ministries with the Worship Team of Discipleship Ministries, tasked with resourcing preachers across the denomination and beyond. He is an ordained elder of the Indiana Annual Conference, and a graduate of University of Indianapolis (Speech and Theater), Perkins School of Theology, SMU (MTh) and New College, Faculty of Divinity, Edinburgh University (Ph.D. in Preaching and Media/Communication).

Rev. Jeff Campbell serves as Associate General Secretary, Strategic Programming at Discipleship Ministries. Jeff guides the Strategic Programming Team focusing on Discipleship Ministries’ three strategic priorities: intentional discipleship systems (pathways) in every church; equipping local churches to engage their communities as a part of a discipleship system; and lifting up/creating indigenous, contextual resources globally. Jeff is an ordained elder of the Greater New Jersey Annual Conference and a graduate of University of Mary Washington (English, Linguistics, & Speech) and Drew Theological School (MDiv).
